Most of the people attending Dreamforce 2011 in San Francisco this year are cloud computing evangelists. In fact, the force of Salesforce.com’s customer loyalty and engagement might best be compared to the full-on devotion demonstrated by Apple’s customers. Meaning, it’s serious.

So, what happens when you gather all of these cloud CRM aficionados in one location, such as downtown San Francisco? Simple: Dreamforce becomes Burning Man for the technology crowd. (And what would Burning Man be without great parties? Really, nothing more than just some art in the desert.)

Without further ado, then, here are my top Dreamforce ’11 party recommendations:

Tuesday Night: SilverPop’s Party (The Mezzanine)

SilverPop’s Party at The Mezzanine begins at 9 p.m. Expect an evening of non-stop fun, not least thanks to a show from alternative rock band Cake. I understand that due to the popularity of this event, invitations are no longer being issued, although there may be a waiting list. Why not visit SilverPop’s booth, just to double-check?

Wednesday Night: DF11 Global Gala (Moscone Center)

“Get ready to rock!” So say those purveyors of the sonic apocalypse, Metallica. The Grammy award-winners will headline the DF11 Global Gala at Moscone Center, which begins at 8pm, and includes a set from Salesforce.com shareholder and champion will.i.am. Should we expect an Aerosmith/Run-DMC style mash-up between the two? Surprise guests? A sample of Metallica’s new Lou Reed collaboration? Stayed tuned to our Twitter feed for the latest.

Thursday Night: Innoveer’s Cocktail Reception (W Hotel)

Ring out the final night of the conference in style, at Innoveer’s Dreamforce World Series Cocktail Reception. While we’re not expecting Bill Clinton this year, the evening still promises plenty of excitement. Join Innoveer for an evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and lively cloud CRM discussions with Salesforce.com personnel, plus Innoveer’s own customers and consultants.

To amp up the fun, we’ll also be giving away 13 prizes (just drop off your business card and flash your Dreamforce pass at the door):
